Zambezi Hall African Boma Chapel Garden Overnight Facilities Florist Hints and Tips Client Feedback

Important
These hints and tips are written for the climate and settings at Zambezi Point and are not generally the opinion or the same for other venues in Gauteng.

Choosing a time
When choosing the time to get married, a few things have to taken into consideration. Most importantly is the time of year. The year can be split up into 4 groups.
December to March = Very hot and the getting married early is not recommended. The best time is 17:00. The sun sets between 18:20 – 19:00.
April, May, August and September = Very subdued and controllable. In this authors opinion, the best months to be married. The sun sets around 17:30 – 18:20.
June and July = Cold but not at Zambezi Point. Our garden is an evergreen garden with evergreen lawns in these two months. The Zambezi Hall has wall to wall carpets and the thatch roof keeps the heat inside. Also the "cheapest" two months of the year and you will probably get away with more requests than in busy November. Sun sets 17:15 – 17:25.
October and November = The two busiest, most beautiful and expensive months to be wed. Also hot but not as hot. Very good chance of rain and showers.

Choosing a master of ceremony
A master of seremony plays a very important part of any wedding. This is a part of the wedding that is not covered in any book or talked about very often. This author feels that the master of ceremony is up there with the top 5 most important things of the day. He can make or break the day. An incompetent one can make life very difficult for the guests, bridal couple and of course for the venue. Choose one very carefully and choose him for his skills and not because he knows the most people at the reception. He never talks about the guests anyway so why must he know people? A good master of ceremony is like a good wedding co-ordinator and works together with the photographer, video, the venue and the maître d’ to make everything work like clockwork. A master of ceremony that thinks his job is to make people laugh the whole time, should rather be fired than hired.

Viewing a venue
We really do not know how other venues operate, and good luck to them, but at Zambezi Point we have on average two weddings per any given Saturday. For us to be fair to our valuable clients, we do not allow "walk in" clients to be on the premise while setting up for a wedding. A wedding is a private matter and uninvited "walk ins" are just not welcome. We see new clients by appointment only on Saturdays. If in the future you feel like browsing a venue, keep in mind that you are actually invading other peoples privacy, and with that same respect that you handle them, be prepared to be handled on your special day. Rather come early, preferably before 11:00 and stay away from wedding venues on a Saturday afternoon. It will soon be your turn! ;-)

Be human.
Thank the Lord that people are different and have different tastes. Do not put anyone down just because your TASTE differs. Some people like our crispy potatoes and some think they are too hard. Point is, we always do our best! That goes for fotographers, coordinaters, videographers, musicians and even waiters and barmen. What a client must not stand for is someone not doing their best.

And finally.......
You will NEVER satisfy all your guests. It is virtually impossible because of taste differences. And on top of that, you always get guests with baggage like hate, jealousy, rejection etc etc etc. Good luck and God bless. Remember, couples thay pray together, stay together.
